How the menus work
The header, the sidebar, tabs and the phone layout: where things are, and why your menu depends on your context and permissions.
Every page of the portal has the same frame: the header across the top, the sidebar on the left, and the page itself.
The header
From left to right:
- Context switcher: the role and place you work in; see Switch contexts.
- Search: a search box for units, owners, plates, tickets and documents. It is a placeholder for now; the search is coming soon. Owners and residents do not see it.
- Dark mode: switches the theme; Language: switches the language. See Language and theme.
- Notifications: the bell for your notifications. It is a placeholder until the notification center is built.
- User menu, with your name: My exports (see Saved views and exports) and Sign out.
While the live connection to the server is lost, the header also shows Reconnecting….
The sidebar
The sidebar lists the sections of your current context. In a complex, they are grouped under Property, Money, Community and Operations. On the desktop you can collapse the sidebar to icons with the button at its bottom; the portal remembers it.
On a phone the sidebar is hidden behind Open menu, the button at the left of the header, and closes when you pick a page.
Tabs
Some sections have tabs across the top of the page, such as Settings (Languages, Currencies, Fee templates, …) or Building structure (Map, Setup). A tab you have no permission for is hidden.
Why your menu differs from a colleague’s
- The context decides which menu you see: platform, organization, complex staff, or owner.
- Your permissions decide which of its items you see. A Complex Admin sees everything in a complex; an Accountant sees only what the Accountant role allows there.
Owners on a phone
In the owner’s context on a phone, the sidebar is replaced by a tab bar at the bottom: Home, Payments, Requests, Chat and More for the rest.
