Your account, password and two-factor authentication
Change your name and password on My account, and protect your sign-in with a code from an authenticator app and recovery codes.
My account holds what belongs to you in every role: your name, your password and two-factor authentication. Open the user menu at the right of the header, with your name, and select My account. Owners and residents also find a link on Profile & notifications.
Change your name
- In the Profile card, edit Full name. It can be up to 200 characters.
- Select Save changes.
Profile saved confirms it, and the header shows the new name. The Email is the address you sign in with and cannot be changed here.
Change your password
- In the Password card, enter your Current password.
- Enter the New password: at least 8 characters, with at least one number.
- Repeat it in Confirm new password.
- Select Change password.
Password changed. Your other devices were signed out. confirms it. The device you are using stays signed in; every other session of your account ends, and its push notifications stop. A wrong current password is shown under its field.
Forgot your password and cannot sign in? Reset it from the sign-in page instead.
Turn on two-factor authentication
Two-factor authentication asks, after your password, for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Someone who learns your password still cannot sign in without your phone. It is optional for every role.
- In the Two-factor authentication card, select Set up.
- Enter your Current password and select Continue.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, copy the Key for typing in by hand into the app.
- Enter the 6-digit code the app shows in Code from the app and select Turn on.
- The portal shows ten recovery codes. They are shown only once: select Copy all or Download .txt and keep them somewhere safe, apart from your phone. Then select Done.
The card now shows On and how many recovery codes are left.
Sign in with two-factor authentication
- Enter your email and password as usual and select Sign in.
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app in Authentication code and select Verify and sign in.
A code changes every 30 seconds and works once. If the code is refused, wait for the next one. If the sign-in takes more than 5 minutes, the portal asks for your password again. Back also returns to the password.
Lost your phone? Use a recovery code
On the code step, select Use a recovery code, enter one of your recovery codes and select Verify and sign in. Each recovery code works once. When few are left, make a new set.
New recovery codes
Select New recovery codes, enter your current password and a code from the app (or a recovery code), then confirm. The ten new codes replace every old one; save them as before.
Turn two-factor authentication off
Select Turn off, enter your current password and a code from the app or a recovery code, then confirm. Signing in then asks only for your password.
Good to know
- While an administrator views the portal as an owner, My account shows the owner’s name but changes nothing.
- The shared accounts of the public demo and of a private demo cannot change their password or turn on two-factor authentication.
- After several wrong passwords or codes in a short time, the portal asks you to wait before trying again.
- Keep your recovery codes somewhere safe, away from your phone. Without your phone and without a recovery code you cannot sign in, and nobody else can turn two-factor authentication off for you.
